Rosé of the day - Wednesday August 14, 2013

Gruet Brut Rosé NV $15.99

Tasting notes: This nearly garnet Rose, like all our non-vintage sparkling wines, is aged 24 months en tirage. It has a lovely, bright floral bouquet with hints of strawberry, raspberry, and cherry. On the palate, it is rich and fruity in a dry, Brut style. The flavor of berries continues on the palate, revealing more strawberry, raspberry, cherry.

Varietals: Pinot Noir

Region: Albuquerque, New Mexico, USA

Tuesday's answer:
Another beautiful day on the horizon here in Fairfield. We have had some extreme weather this summer but we have also had some beautiful days and today is certainly on of them. I hope everyone gets some time to enjoy it.
Lets see what you thought yesterday...

Fairfield Cheese Company was the first to respond with "I know can I guess?" Oh, I guess I should have answered that one in real time, well better late than never I guess... Absolutley! As long as the clues aren't coming out of our corner and you haven't been clued in on the days answer, you should play along too.

Kevin (Young gun) Beyerly was next... "Hmm, fire apparatus...Jackie's guess of the theme was "warm", so maybe the theme is a tribute to first responders, will probably need a couple if more days of Rose to confirm to see where else it takes us..." Another good guess at the theme and I think by today the answer is becoming more clear. Perhaps I should have said that Jackie was "hot" rather than warm but I didn't want you to get the wrong idea... First responders, local heros, lots of different ways to describe our men and women that keep us safe.

The clairvoyant Chefmichaelatyourservice was the next to post and answer and the first to get it right when he said for the second day in a row "one more time.... Southport Firehouse" A man ahead of his time!

Jackie (I'm hot) Beyerly joined our responders yesterday and followed the chefs lead as she put up "I too agree its Southport....I also think that this wine would be tasty after putting out a fire (more like the small fire from the grill but I am just keeping with the theme )" We appreciate that you stayed on topic and the grill was such a good idea that we took you up on it and fired up ours last night.

Mark (Lets shed some light on this) Beyerly  came by to drop the history of this department on us and said "A volunteer fire department for more than 117 years! Southport Volunteer Fire Department it is! Mark does do the leg work for us and has given many great tidbits along the way. I should probably be a little nicer to him... or maybe not. He also recognized the chefs claircoyant ability and finished his answer with "(The Chef was seeing into the future yesterday with his answer...)"  to which the good chef mentioned his desire to see the Powerball #'s ahead of time.

Lets pop a cork or two for our local heros as we push through hump day and finish the week!

Thank you for all you do to keep our citizens safe!
