Wine Tasting - Saturday february 27th 1-4pm

Weekly Wine Tasting
Saturday February 27th 1-4pm
with Katie Schoen Of Slocum & Sons.

Inama Soave 2014 $14.99
Inama Soave Classico is a light yellow color. With this 100% Garganega wine you will find and elegant nose of sweet field flowers, including chamomile, elder flower, and iris. There are mineral notes on the palate with sweet almond on the finish.

Casanova di Neri Rosso di Toscana 2014 $20.99
This blend of Sangiovese and Colorino is an outstanding value from one of Tuscany's most prestigious producers. Full-Bodied with hints of cherry, red fruits and violets.

Recchia Valpolicella Ripasso 2010 $17.99
Made from the finest Corvina, Rondinella, and Molinara grapes of the Muraie vineyard on the "grand cru" hillside of Jago above the village of Negrar, then refermented on the lees of Amarone and Recioto. The 'Ripasso' process results in a wine with more depth of flavor and aroma as well as body and alcohol, and results in this soft and supple wine layered with flavors of cherry, red currant, chocolate and mocha.

Foradori Teroldego 2012 $25.99
100% Teroldego. Purplish red color, but very dark. Very nice minty nose with aromas of red fruits. Mouth with a fine structure, silky tannins and beautiful red fruit notes with a nice freshness.

Beer Tasting Feb 26th from 4 - 7pm

Your Host:
Al from Sam Adams with
"The Nitro Project"

Nitro I.P.A 4pcan $10.49
Sam Adam's Nitro IPA is boldly bitter yet surprisingly smooth. Nitro can mute aroma and leave bitterness, particularly in IPAs, so to stand up to the creaminess of nitro we used heavy doses of dry hopping to achieve the resinous pine, spice, and citrus hop character we love. A fortitude of hop character remains with notes of resinous pine and citrus for a flavorful, lingering finish.

Coffee Stout 4pcan $10.49
Sam Adam's Nitro Coffee Stout is darkly enticing with its smooth, velvety cream that cascades into a jet black brew revealing a rich, robust character.  The dark roasted malts create notes of bittersweet chocolate with hints of dark fruit while the Sumatran & Indian Monsoon Malabar coffees develop a deep roasted dimension. For a deeper, yet smooth, flavor we steep the coffee beans in cold water to create an extraction that we add to this stout.

Pack Of Rebels 12pcan $16.69
Sam Adams Rebel IPA to our brand new Rebel Grapefruit IPA, Pack of Rebels is a year-round variety pack created for any west coast IPA hop head. Pack of Rebels includes: Rebel IPA, Rebel Rouser Double IPA, Rebel Grapefruit IPA, and Rebel Cascade IPA (exclusive to the Pack of Rebels variety pack).

Wine Tasting Saturday February 13th 1-4pm

Wine Tasting 1-4pm
with Andrew Clement - Eder Brothers

Schramsberg Brut Rosé 2011 $39.99
Generous aromas of tangerine, strawberry, cranberry and watermelon. Its fruitful nose is complemented by notes of candied ginger and warm pastry dough. The wine has a fresh, bright acidity with a long, crisp finish.

Pomelo Sauvignon Blanc 2014 $13.99
A mouth-watering, vivid style; this wine explodes with delicious flavors of passion fruit, guava, quince, lime peel; with an intensely grapefruit nose.

B.R. Cohn Russian River Chardonnay 2014 $16.99
This wine is rich and concentrated with aromas of tropical fruit, pear, apricot, and lemon meringue surrounded by a bouquet of toasty oak, vanilla, caramel, and hazelnut. Luscious mouthfeel and bright flavors of honey, pear, apple, and citrus make this a perfect wine with food, especially seafood or poultry.

Groth Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon 2012 $50.99
Beautiful dark cherry color in the glass with aroma notes of plums, dried cherries, and toasted hazelnuts. The mouthfeel is round and juicy with firm full tannins, rich fruit flavors of huckleberry and a dried cherry sweetness fade into the warm spicy finish with hints of blackberry.

Beer Tasting Friday Feb. 12th, 4-7pm

Your Host is Geoffrey from:
Harpoon Brewing Company

Long Thaw $9.69 6pkbtl
Medium bitterness, fruit and citrus flavors from the hops and orange peel, and spicy from the coriander.  A little bready / biscuity malt and wheat character

Grapefruit UFO $9.69 6pkbtl
sweet malt, sweet / tart grapefruit

Harpoon IPA $9.69 6pkbtl
Our IPA finds harmony in the combination of hops, malt, and yeast so that no single ingredient dominates the drinking experience. The sturdy malt backbone provides depth of body and color and is balanced by a pleasantly hoppy finish...best enjoyed with friends.

And we have a surprise Brew tonight. Stop by to find out what!

A dozen Rosés for your Valentine?

Just in time for Valentines day the first few Rosés are hitting our shelf. I know that everyone is thinking about the bitter cold that is setting in to the northeast and Connecticut in particular but don't let that stop you. Here are my arguments...

First, Rosé truly has become a year 'round wine. People have not stopped drinking Chardonnay or Sauvignon Blanc so if your hesitation is the seasonal thing, it is time to get past it, this is a mainstream movement.

Second, Valentines day = Pink... enough said.

Third, As we have been pounding on since harvest this past fall, 2015 is going to be a great vintage around the world and these wines are your first peek. It is current, it is cool and Chic to be drinking these beauties.

Finally, What is better than coming home with a box and saying to your Valentine "A dozen Rosés for my love"?

Most wine drinkers are on trend with Rosé, with a few exceptions, and those standouts will most assuredly be converted with the release upcoming 2015 vintage.

Short and sweet. Happy Valentines Day everyone!

Wine Tasting - Saturday Jan 30 1-4pm

Harry's Staff Wine Tasting
with
Scott Hill

With more than decades working in some of the top wine stores in New York and Connecticut, Scott brings a lot of experience and a refined palate to Harry's. He is WSET trained and has enjoyed visiting wineries and trade events in California, France, and Italy. Scott's favorite part of the wine business is discovering exciting wines to share - he is always on the lookout for something new!

Selbach Oster Zeltinger Himmelreich Halbtrocken 2014...$19.99
Richer and less minty than usual in this vintage, so anticipate a wine with more apple and less spearmint. This is a marked triumph in ’14.

Daou Paso Robles Cabernet Sauvignon 2014...$29.99

Rich deep dark berry color with creamy mocha-espresso flavors is the first impression of this wine. The tannins are well integrated with the fruit and create a long finish that keeps going. It's full bodied with a saturated finish while accompanied by bright acidity and infused by black current and cooked blueberry fruit. Balanced and intense, it showcases what Bordeaux varieties can perform when managed correctly.

Beer Tasting Feb 5th from 4 - 7pm

Your Host today is
Little "J" pouring
Lagunitas Brewing Co.

Lagunita's Sucks 6pkbtl...$10.69
This beer is a 'cereal medley' of barley, rye, wheat, and oats. Full of complexishness from the 4 grains, then joyously dry-hopped for that big aroma and resinous flavor.

Undercover Ale 6pkbtl...$10.49
Our malty and rich beer with a snappy hop finish truly defies style…Imperial Mild?...Uber ESB?... We do know for sure that it is Unforgiven and Unrepentant.

I.P.A 6pkbtl... $9.99
A well-rounded, highly drinkable IPA. A bit of Caramel Malt barley provides the richness that mellows out the twang of the hops.

Brown Shugga 6pkbtl...$10.49
Our winter seasonal 6pk that falls into the realm of "Dangerously Slammable", this brew is especially irresponsible. Brown Shugga...How come you taste so good?
