Harry's Wine School Spring Semester - Join The Fun!
Harry's Wine School Presents:
Spring Semester 2016
(All Classes 7:00-9:00pm)
March
2nd – A Balancing Act
Continuing
from where our Wine 101 Class left us, we’ll explore today’s welcome trend
towards balanced wines produced without manipulation and how that is a reversal
of the ‘Parkerization’ of behemoth, syrupy wines too high in alcohol and too
low in acidity. Taste a selection of wines displaying lower alcohol naturally
balanced with brighter acidity, a more contemplative style of wine being
eagerly embraced by wine lovers and sommeliers! $35
March
9th – New! Staff Favorites:
From Our Palates to Yours
Harry’s
wine team will all be pitching in for this special class! We know that everyone
has a different palate, and what some drinkers rave about, others may be less
excited by. Each of our wine experts will attach their name to a wine that
strikes a chord with them and explain why, then you get to judge for
yourselves! Expect a wide range of diverse styles from around the globe! You’ll
be sure to find some new favorites! $35
April
6th – Guest Speaker Series: Scotch, the Islands
Known
for expressive, smoky, peated whiskies, Islay has a reputation that most Scotch
lovers are familiar with… but how about Arran? The Isle of Skye? Join Harry’s
as we discover these small distilleries, heavily affected by their oceanic
environments, and learn about these hearty whiskies so reflective of local
inhabitants and culture. $35
April
20th – Guest Speaker Series: HALL Wines
In a
little over a decade, HALL has risen from Napa Valley upstart to superstar,
with 170 scores of 90 or more from critics to date. Vineyard owner since the
1970s, Kathryn Walt Hall began producing HALL wines after serving as U.S.
Ambassador to Austria from 1997-2001. We’ll be welcoming Steve Leveque,
Director of Winemaking at HALL, and exploring these prestigious, rare wines, including
some of Napa’s very best Cabernet! Steve will also introduce us to HALL’s
newest project, WALT Pinot Noir and Chardonnay from the Pacific Coast. By the
end of the evening, you’ll be in love with these gorgeous bottlings! $35

Harry’s Wine School Fall 2015
Italy has a great deal to offer when it comes to great wine
growing appellations. Too much to get through in just one evening so we will
visit the regions just south of the Alps. From Piedmont in the west to the
Veneto in the east, and some surprising and lesser known regions between the
two. Len will connect the dots and introduce you to a few varietals that even
experienced tasters might not know yet.
Where is Ribera del Duero?
Montsant? Toro? What is a D.O.? Join us as Len helps us to understand Spain
through the eyes of a wine traveler. Len has traveled extensively through the world’s
great wine growing regions and will join us this evening to share with you what
he has learned through the years. You will understand the varietals, Spain’s
many appellations, and how the regional wine regulatory boards (Consejo Regulador) insure the
highest level of quality in all their wines.
“Brothers Extraordinaire” David and Andrew are rolling up
their sleeves to bring us another memorable food pairing class filled with
delicious creations and teamed with a selections of wines that bring the palate
to life. Len will host and offer his opinions and knowledge as we taste a
selection of wines that are classically paired with the foods they were
intended for. Always a popular class.
This night we will pick a selection of wines from our
shelves that have impressed us, are very age worthy, and have great potential
for gift giving at this special time of year. Bring your palate and clear a
spot in your cellar because this night offers some of the best wines available
from the world’s great producers and vintages.
As a holiday gift to all, Len will bring a well-aged (i.e., multi-decade)
beauty from his personal wine cellar – Do Not Miss This Event!
