Special Wine Tasting
Saturday, Nov 16, Noon to 2pm
Geno Auriemma Wines
with Kara Wolters
UConn NCAA Champion, WNBA Champion, and Olympic Gold Medalist
We are pleased to announce that Uconn women’s basketball star
Kara Wolters will be coming to Harry’s Wine & Liquor Market on Saturday
November 16, 2013 from 12:00pm-2:00pm
After four seasons at Uconn from 1993-1997 where Wolters was a
national champion, National player of the year and member of the perfect 35-0
Uconn women’s basketball team, Kara won gold in Sydney representing the USA and
also played for WNBA’s Houston, Indiana and Sacramento teams.
Now, along with some of the other former Uconn players, Kara is
helping her former coach to kick off his line of wines here in Connecticut.
Geno Auriemma is paying homage to his Italian roosts by releasing these
signature wines. The tasting will include three of his four wines, Prosecco
DOC; 2012 Pinot Grigio; and 2010 Puglia Rosso.
We look forward to an exciting day of wine tasting while Kara
meets and greets her fans. She has agreed to sign autographs and take pictures
so bring the family along to meet one of Connecticut’s best known and most
liked players as she moves from center court to the center of our attention in
this fun event.
Pinot Grigio 2012 $11.99
This has a pale straw color. On the nose the wine
shows fresh and fruity aromas of pear along with a hint of honey. It has
a round and smooth mouth feel that makes it an easy sipper, and the white fruit
flavors are very pleasing. A great choice to enjoy with fish and salads.
Prosecco NV $15.99
This sparkling wine has a golden straw color with fresh
aromas of citrus and white flowers. On the palate are more citrus notes
along with a touch of grapefruit and some green apples. It is a perfect
aperitif wine with a crisp finish that leaves the palate clean and refreshed.
Puglia Rosso 2010 $13.99
Ruby red in color this wine has very inviting aromas of
cherries and spice. On the palate it is medium-bodied with good acidity
and flavors of black fruits, spice, and licorice. It is smooth with
balanced tannins and a pleasant finish.
