Lots to be thankful for...

As Thanksgiving disappears in the rearview mirror, it reminds all of us to take some time to reflect and consider all of the things that we are fortunate enough to have.

On the surface and in some cases much deeper it feels like the past few weeks have given us in the northeast lots to consider. Hurricane Sandy came through and destroyed many communities and our own towns were among the very hard hit. Many of Harry's friends and neighbors continue to feel the effects of her wrath and our local beaches and the houses that run along them are in many cases in ruins.

Why then am I describing a time when we should be considering our good fortune? Well to start with just think about the strong sense of community there is in Fairfield and the towns surrounding us. The number of stories that have been shared across the counter and on the sales floor with us about family and friends that opened their doors and wallets to help others that weren't as fortunate. Neighbors that gave shelter to someone living near them that had a tree fall on their house or was washed away in the flood, an old friend reaching out and offering their home to someone displaced from the beach community.

There have been plenty of sad stories coming through our doors and conveyed to our staff and some very proud people have been pushed to their breaking point but as the days and weeks go by there is an amazing resiliance that is showing also.

This Thanksgiving was met by a community that is strong in the face of adversity and able and willing to take the challenge. This Thanksgiving we heard about more large get togethers as the celebrations include a few more mouths. People were thankful for their hosts and seemed to be genuinely looking forward to what may just be americas most important holiday. The one were we sit down across the table and literally break bread with our neighbors and those that are important to our lives in one way or another.

It is inspiring that in the worst and most unfortunate situations, when the chips are down and the stress is high, We find a way to dig deep and show the best of what humanity has to offer. Our community is bouncing back and we offer our thanks to all that have helped in one way or another to make this a memorable Thanksgiving in our area.

Now, on we go into the madness of the upcoming season!

We look forward to a great one,

William, Patrick and the Harry's family
